The sensation is similar to treading water. Continuing with the analogy, the Marathe & Steeply sections are like doing the egg-beater while holding a 5 gallon sparkletts jug over your head.

The book contains sections that are rich with philosophy and modern day associations that will drop your jaw. But there are trenches. The Wardine section. And lately, the Marathe and Steeply sections.

Partly, this is because I foreshadow their relevance. It is clearly connected. But when are we? And why are we following these individuals? Surely the remaining pages will provide further details. Right now the curiosity is piqued. But I find myself wanting more of the Academy and the background on the entertainment. Alas, poor yorick.

This is the stage of class at which I am hopelessly optimistic that I’ll meet every deadline.  Ha.  I’m about 65 pages and the feeling of having new, complex characters thrown at me continuously is becoming a source of stress.  Am I capable of tracking their paths while attending to the details.  This is a test.

I’ve just learned that I’m approaching one of the common stall points.  Root for me to break through.

This will be my first ‘community reading’ type thing that emerged from the net. It represents everything that I used to gush that “only the internet could create”, bringing together individuals that would never find others on the deep end of the long-tail otherwise.

My apprehensions: that the intense sadness of DFW’s story permeates and I’m not able to detach the story from his story. that I’m not able to keep up.
